1What!!!Jan 12, 2010
I live in Kingston Jamaica. I bought this computer in November 07 for my son to help him in his recovery from a major illness. Now, I know every year the makers of things 'tech' bring out new stuff to get us to buy more than we need of can afford. I however cannot pander to this behaviour. In Jamaica our dollar is valued at $90.00 Jamaican to US$1.00.So you can easily calculate the cost of the computer in Jamaican dollars. I am very upset to report that the power supply is shot, so the computer is not working. I don't know about anyone else but this is unacceptable I really expected this computer to do a lot better than a 2 year stint. The company who fixes these units here , now have to send back to the US for the part, at God knows what cost. I am angry!!!!

5running windows 7 ultimate!Nov 16, 2009
This HP Pavilion Slimline is a true beauty. I totally regret the fact that I had to upgrade and let go of it, since its power supply would not handle the big and ugly Quadro FX 5600 (needs a minimum of 750W PSU!!)
never had problems whatsoever.. I'm currently running guess what, windows 7 ULTIMATE and the OS was running smooth, so does the boot.
Thank you HP!

4Slimline: tradeoffsDec 17, 2008
I fell in love with the Slimline ... line ... when I saw one in a store. Full power in a third of the space--what's not to like? I've got three now, and I'm starting to find out.

As should have been obvious from the space-crunch, heat dissipation isn't quite what I'm used to. Of my boxen, I've got one dead PS and one dead VGA port. After looking online, these problems seem to be relatively common. Replacement PS start at $70 ($30 used) and add-on video cards need to squeeze into a very small space without drawing too many horses.

All that said, I'd do it again in a heartbeat. $500 for a box that's got twice the power of my $1000 box, in 1/3 the space--absolutely yes. As soon as the quad-cores shrink and mature, it's game on.

1Bad customer serviceNov 06, 2008
I ordered this computer and it was shipped September 11,2008. I had a tech come to connect it up and it worked fine for all of a week. I shut down one night and woke the next morning to a blue screen. I tried to see what happened but it kept coming up blue screen/black screen, so I took it to a tech. He said he fixed it but on returning home, it was back to blue screen. I had another tech come into my home to fix it. After 4 hours, at great expense, he told me the computer was defective. I called HD and told them what happened. They told me to return the computer. I asked who was going to pay the extra money I paid the techs to find out it was a defective computer and they said, too bad, they couldn't do anything. So, I'm out the money for this computer and also the money I paid for their malfunctioning computer. Never another HP product for me. Buy if you must but you may regret it, as I do.

1Total nightmareMay 31, 2008
The worst possible computer experience imaginable. I've had it less than a month and four or five times a day the internet won't work, the printer has a mind of its own, and on, and on, and on. I've used computers for fifteen years, and NEVER have I seen anything like this. NEVER. Totally worthless piece of junk. Avoid!
